AbstractA case of disseminated intravascular coagulation is reported. This was thought to be a complication of chemotherapy with 1,3-bis(2-chlorethyl)-nitrosourea for a malignant astrocytoma of the brain. This is the first report of this condition due to this chemotherapeutic agent.
AbstractThe case of a 69-year-old man, who had a 3-week history of symptoms resembling an organic brain syndrome and who had no focal neurologic deficit, is reported. The investigation revealed a mass lesion in the left frontoparietal area, which was found to be a neuroblastoma. Treatment included surgical removal followed by radiation therapy to the brain. A survey of the literature to date reveals only 11 reported cases of cerebral neuroblastoma in adults.
