AbstractThe determination of the harmonic content of the field of a quadrupole lens by means of a simple measurement along a circular path around the optical axis is discussed. Results obtained in this way for normal excitation of the lens and for asymmetrical excitation are presented.

AbstractThe design of the axial injection system is described in detail: the horizontal beam line (including the modified duoplasmatron ion source), the vertical beam line (containing the buncher) and the electrostatic inflector. A discussion is given of beam experiments with the system, including the commissioning tests.

Gamma ray transitions in 35Cl

SynopsisThe gamma ray transitions in 35Cl following proton capture in 34S have been studied with scintillation spectrometers. The investigation was restricted to 9 resonances between proton energies 0.756 and 1.214 MeV. The resonance strengths were measured. The resulting excited states in 35Cl at about 7.2 MeV decay to known levels at 1.22, 1.76, 2.64, 2.69, 3.16, 4.06 and 4.17 MeV and to new ones at 5.03 ± 0.05 and 5.22 ± 0.04. Branching ratios were measured for all levels.
