Regional flood hydrology in a semi-arid catchment using a GLS regression model

Highlights•A regional flood frequency hydrology analysis is carried out in the Ebro catchment.•Inter-site correlations of both sampling and modelling errors are accounted for.•The regression model is adapted to the Spanish flood frequency recommendations.•GLS regression models improve the existing OLS models at different spatial scales.•Most GLS models removed almost completely the spatial correlation of residuals.

Research papersLinks between different classes of storm tracks and the flood trends in Spain

Highlights•Storm tracks are obtained using the HYSPLIT model and NCEP/NCAR reanalysis data.•Five storm types are identified in Spain and grouped into Oceanic and Continental.•Continental floods are more frequent in Spain than Oceanic floods.•Locally, different storm types may be a significant driver of flood change.•Significant trend in flood types in Atlantic region.
