Abstract:
Publisher SummaryThis chapter discusses the breakup of 12C* into three alphas at Εχ= 18.36 MeV and presents an analysis of the reaction 11B(p,α)2α at a proton bombarding energy of 2.65 MeV. The features of the expression of σL are: (1) the nuclei 12C and 8Be are considered as compound nuclei and the formalism of the R-matrix is used, and (2) the usual variables of the three-body problem and three coordinate systems are needed to derive the scattering amplitude. For proton bombarding energies below 2.65 MeV, the forms of theoretical curves computed from the mechanism are in a good agreement with the experiments, but at the energy of 2.65 MeV, the comparison between experiment and theory is bad.
