Publisher SummaryTek is a putative receptor-type TPK. It was identified in a reverse transcriptase-PCR-based search for PTKs expressed in developing murine heart, using both E9.5 and E12.5 heart tissue. The full-length cDNA was subsequently cloned from the El2.5 heart library. Tek comprises an extracellular region containing several distinct domains, and an intracellular region containing a kinase domain with an insert sequence. The extracellular region contains eight potential N-linked glycosylation sites. Tek has also been cloned from the human and rat and expressed in endothelial cells and angioblasts.
