NoteLabor-managed and capitalistic firms in international duopoly: The effects of export subsidy
Review articleOpen access

AbstractExtending Mai and Hwang (J. Comp. Econom. 13, 473, 1989.), we investigate the effects of a change in export subsidy on international duopoly with product differentiation and with a LMF and a PMF. We consider two cases, in one of which both a LMF and a PMF adopt output strategy (Cournot duopoly) and in the other they both adopt price strategy (Bertrand duopoly). The results are then compared for the two models. The role of substitutability is also clarified for Cournot duopoly where the demand functions are assumed to be linear. The Mai-Hwang result emerges as a special case of our results.
