AbstractThe influence of vitamin B12 on the levels of erythrocyte and hepatic GSH in chicks on various diets have been studied. An increase in erythrocyte GSH was found in chicks receiving a high-fat diet supplemented with B12 (100 μg./kg.) and a methionine-deficient diet supplemented with B12 (50 μg/kg.) alone, or with the combination of methionine and B12.The addition of vitamin B12 (10 μg./kg.) to a high-protein diet did not change the erythrocyte GSH level.Vitamin B12 had no effect on hepatic GSH content under the conditions studied.
