Structural order in comb-like liquid-crystalline copolymers☆

AbstractStructural studies were performed on a series of comb-like liquid-crystalline copolymers in a broad range of compositions and temperatures. It was shown that at contents of mesogenic units >32%, a nematic structure is formed, with intermolecular spacing 5·0–5·2 Å, and transverse correlation length 10–15 Å. The effect of the main chain type on the structural order characteristics is demonstrated.
