AbstractIn pile neutron spectrometry it is important to understand the physics of fast reactors.In order to extend the technique of proton recoil counter spectrometry to high counting rates, a current pulse amplifier system was developed. It is shown that this system allows a factor of 5 in the counting rate without any linearity distortion. Despite the variation of pulse shapes, gamma neutron discrimination is also possible with such a device. The comparison between conventional electronics and current pulse electronics is shown on a typical spectrum.
