Abstract:

Highlights•We studied the effects of irradiation on the metallic iron.•The iron were irradiated with 12C4+ and 14N5+ ions and recoil nuclei from a 228Th-source.•The effects of bombardment were studied upon Mossbauer spectroscopy.•We report on the effect of irradiation on the structure-, phase composition- and corrosion resistance properties of metallic iron.
