Salbutamol tolerability and efficacy in patients with spinal muscular atrophy type II

Highlights•Changes over an 18-month period in 48 patients with SMA type II were investigated.•Salbutamol might be helpful in the maintenance of motor function in SMA type II.•Benefit was observed in younger children, especially during the first 6 months.•The majority of patients of all ages referred some kind of subjective positive effect.•Salbutamol seemed safe and was well tolerated without serious side effects.
