Cellular automata model for a contact problem

AbstractThe aim of this paper is to apply the cellular automata approach to the description of deformations of an elastic body and the frictionless contact between the body and a rigid foundation. The model is based on a microscopic approach and can be easily implemented. A numerical algorithm is constructed and simulation results are presented, illustrating the properties of the model and the behavior of its solutions.
