The precipitation of aluminium from supersaturated solution in α uranium

AbstractThe kinetics of the formation of precipitates from γ quenched adjusted uranium has been studied by lattice parameter changes. It was established metallo graphically and by electron microscopy that only the phase U Al2 precipitates on heating in the α. phase. In the temperature range examined (350–600 °C) the kinetics of precipitation are consistent with the nucleation and growth of precipitates on subgrain boundaries and on individual dislocations within subgrains.
