Changes of Enzyme Activities and Isozyme Patterns in Synchronous Chlorella due to Circadian Rhythm

AbstractThe activities of glucose-6-dehydrogenase, 6-phospho-gluconate dehydrogenase, phosphoglucoisomerase, and aldolase were tested. These activities of cells with 0, 12 and 24h lengthened dark (after the normal growth cycle of 14:10h) increased at the same time during the following test cycle, but the rates of activation were different which was evaluated atthe 18th. Isozyme patterns of G6P DH changed during the normal cell cycle, but those of 0, 12, and 24 showed no differences. Oscillations of diurnal cell production were according to the variations of enzyme activities but not to the isozyme patterns.
