Abstract1.1. An enzyme activity that brings about the phosphorolysis of methylthioadenosine has been isolated from Drosophila melanogaster and purified approx. 25-fold.2.2. The products of the reaction have been identified as adenine and methylthioribose-1-phosphate.3.3. The enzyme catalyzes the reverse reaction with these compounds.
