Abstract:
Highlights•In Centaurium erythraea, the production of SG is organ- and genotype-specific.•Genes for enzymes of secoiridoids biosynthesis up to secologanin are identified.•Secoiridoid content of centaury genotypes is partly regulated by SG pathway genes.•Constitutive biosynthesis of secoiridoids is induced by methyl jasmonate.•Genes which might regulate biosynthetic flux through SG pathway are highlighted.
