Review articleOpen access
Abstract:

Highlights•A new method for characterizing horizontal transmissivity anisotropy using cross-hole slug tests is proposed.•The method is validated by a numerical example and against Papadopulos’ method based on cross-hole pumping tests.•Effects of heterogeneity, measurement scale and medium connectivity on the tensor analysis were discussed.
